Yasutomo Paper Information
Yasutomo papers include Washi (Japanese rice paper), Mineral Paper and watercolor paper.

Washi Paper
All of Yasutomo’s Washi papers are made in Japan.
They are all smooth on one side and rough on the reverse. Create on the smooth side for best results. The reverse is rough so that it can be mounted to a backing board, typically with Nori Paste.

Characteristics:
Shikishi boards are made from washi papers mounted to a hard board backing edged with gold foil.
- Hosho has a smooth white absorbent surface.
- Gasen has a textured white absorbent surface.
- Torinoko has a smooth yellow surface that is absorbent, allowing for more precise line work and watercolor washes.
Uses: Traditionally used for sumi-e, watercolor and haiku painting. Can also be used as a substrate for multimedia projects.

Characteristics: Strong, translucent tissue paper sized to allow for finer detail in ink, watercolor, monoprinting and laser printing. Usugami tears nicely, remains strong when wet, and dries transparent, making it great for collage and paper crafting. One side of the paper is smooth and the other is slightly rough. Create on the smooth side for best results. To print on Usugami paper: Mount Usugami to a backing sheet to run it through a printer.

How do I unroll a washi paper roll?
Mineral Paper
Mineral paper is made from 80% calcium carbonate which provides a unique surface for water based or dry media.
A great alternative to wood-based paper.
Tear-resistant, foldable, and non-wrinkling. Will not bleed through, even when soaked.
Mineral paper is a great surface for almost any medium, wet or dry. (Not recommended for oil-based paints or oil pastels.)
Its bright white vellum like surface allows for crisp lines, saturated colors and just the right amount of absorbency for a wide variety of creative techniques.
