GYO-KIT – Gyotaku Kit
GYO-KIT – Gyotaku Kit
Gyotaku is a traditional Japanese art that translates to “fish rubbing.”
Japanese fishers used to record the size of their catch by painting the fish with sumi ink then rubbing washi paper on top to pick up the print, capturing a detailed, life-sized record of their fish!
Whether you’re using a real fish or a replica, use Yasutomo’s Gyotaku Kit to create your very own fish prints.
Kit includes:
- 1 bottle liquid sumi ink (KY2)
- 1 flat hake brush (BFC1)
- 1 round Fusion brush (FS1)
- 1 saucer for ink
- 10 sheets of 12″ x 18″ washi paper (6JM)
- Illustrated instructions with QR code to a step-by-step video
Additional supplies needed (not included):
- Fish (real fish or silicone fish)
- Paper towels
Restock with our KY series liquid sumi ink and 6JM washi paper pad.
⚠️ Disclaimers ⚠️
We do not recommend eating fish that has been used for gyotaku. Our ink is intended for art and is not considered food-grade. Wash your hands after doing gyotaku to remove as much ink as possible.
