This small double ended bamboo sketching pen provides two tips for ink drawing.
One end has a split tip and a hole to allow for continuous and even ink flow. Dip the pen in ink and use it for drawing and writing.
The other end can be used for scratching and mark making.
Each piece is hand carved from bamboo into a shape perfect for ink line drawing. After use, wipe the pen tip with a damp cloth.
Designed to be used with liquid Sumi-ink.

About Silverpoint:
Silverpoint is a centuries-old technique in which silver is used to draw on a specially prepared surface, leaving traces of the metal to create one’s drawing. Silverpoint drawings tarnish over time creating warmer tones. Yasutomo’s Silverpoint Drawing Tools have a black 5 1/2″ long wooden handle with an elegant bamboo shape for a comfortable grip.
99% silver points are beveled to allow for different drawing techniques and line thicknesses. Available in 1mm or 2mm widths. Tips are 9mm (3/8″) long. Points can be removed by simply unscrewing them from the handles are replaced with Yasutomo silverpoint refills.
Packaged in a white box with a gray foam insert and a clear plastic sleeve so that customers can see the complete product through the packaging. Box has a hang tab for easy display.
While silverpoint is typically done on gesso-prepared surfaces, Yasutomo mineral paper is an excellent silverpoint substrate that requires no preparation!

The 3 piece Bamboo Sumi Brush set includes one brush each: CC1, CC3 and CC5.
These popular brushes have a stiff core that is well suited to multipurpose ink and gansai painting, or when you want to have a bit of “spring” to the brush. Made with a blend of natural and synthetic hair which gives a crisp touch. Bamboo handle. Each comes with a convenient loop for hanging.
Use the tip for fine lines. Use the body of the brush for broad lines. These brushes will hold their shape as you manipulate them, giving you a multitude of brush shapes in a single brush!
Unlike watercolor, oil and most other paintbrushes, sumi brushes are composed of two separate parts. The central core, which determines the height and basic function of the brush, is made of relatively stiff hairs gathered to form a tapered point. The outer wrapping consists of softer hairs which are selected for their greater water-holding capacity and for facilitating smooth strokes. The hairs of the inner core and of the outer wrapping are the same length and come to a point when dipped into water. The hair structure ensures smooth maneuverability and dynamic strokes whether light or heavy pressure is applied.

Usugami is a strong, translucent tissue paper made in the Ehime prefecture of Japan. It is sized to allow for finer detail in ink, watercolor, monoprintmaking and laser printing.
Usugami tears nicely, remains strong when wet, and dries transparent, making it great for collage and paper crafting.
One side of the paper is smooth and the other is slightly rough. Create on the smooth side for best results.
To print on Usugami paper: Mount Usugami to a backing sheet to run it through a printer.
